Splasing Around

A Week full of Firsts!

This week has been one exciting time for Steve and I, and I'm sure Barret is worn out. Not only did Steve start his new job at the bank, but Barret started a lot of new activities as well. Last weekend we all went up to visit the Gaffney's in Algonquin for Michael's 18th birthday. It was full of fun for everyone involved. Barret had so much fun he weazled out his first ever giggle! Everyone was so excited. Of course mommy missed it, but later on in the week he was able to get it out again just for me! It was so cute, and doesn't sound anything like I was expecting. He has a very deep giggle voice for his age (strictly my own opinion). On Tuesday Barret and I went to visit Steve at the bank, and he was instantly the center of everyone's attention. Thursday Barret and I had a lot of fun playing on the floor in his play gym. He has been extremely fascinated with the bright animals hanging over head and has tried reaching for them and even swatting at them. However, Thursday he finally grabbed hold of the green frog and was just pulling it around. It was amazing to see him finally grab something other than your finger or shirt. Throughout the day I kept paying close attention to the hand in which he was grabbing with and noticed that everything he was doing was favoring his left side... who knows, maybe we have a lefty on our hands.
Friday night was most fun for Steve and I. We got Barret all ready for his bath as usual and got the bath all ready. When we put him in the bath he looked at us like what is going on, like he always does, and then kind of jerked a little creating a huge splash. Once he realized what he did he couldn't stop splashing! It was so much fun to watch him splash around in the tub. He could have done it for hours we think, he was just enjoying every part of the bath.
To top it all off, on Sunday Barret will be attending his first ever Concert, Chapter 6!

Elephant Wiggle

Recap- 2 month appointment and such

Last week Steve took Barret in for his 2 month appointment!
He weighed 12 pounds and was 23 1/4 inches long. He was in the 50th percentile for everything!

Barret has been keeping us on our toes latley and has been smiling and gurgling more than ever.

He loves to stand on us (as long as we are holding on tight) and has really enjoyed going for walks or runs with Mommy and Daddy.

Last weekend we went up to visit Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Jason. We had a really great time and really enjoyed our time up there. Barret got to meet a few new people too!

We said goodbye to Uncle Jason sunday morning and we can't wait to see him when he gets back from BASIC! Hopefully we get to talk to him soon!

Today Barret went in for a check up and in a week and three days he has gained 8 oz and has grown 3/4 inches. He is now officially 2 feet tall! How exciting! This explains all of the sleep he has been getting the past two weeks or so, he was definatly going through a HUGE growth spurt!

Currently Barret loves to hear people sing, or make sing-songy noises. It is so funny to see his face when we sing to him.

He has also taken to his elephant mobile. He will literally lay in his crib and watch them go round and round. The other evening he watched them go for 40minutes while he talked with them and wiggled just as much as they were moving.

We love our little guy and can't believe just how big he is getting.

First Week Back to Work

This week was my first week back to work and I was so nervous. Everything in me did not want to go back and I still don't really want to be at work when I know I have such a wonderful bubbly baby at home. Monday morning I woke up and tried to get back in the routine of going to work. It was so hard to leave but I knew that Barret would be in good hands. Since Steve didn't work on monday Barret was able to stay at home with Daddy! Making it so much easier for me to leave him. I cried a little but certainly not as much as I had expected. The day went fast and the week went even faster. I was so at ease with everything knowing that Barret was being well taken care of.
Uncle Jason got to spend the week with us and take care of Barret this week. He is leaving for BASIC training on March 16 and we are all going to miss him. I loved getting to spend time with my brother and having the chance for Barret to spend time with him as well.
Friday Tete Chelsey spent the day with him and he was everything but pleasant from the sounds of things.
Barret had a rough Monday and a rough Friday. But I think all in all he will be okay and will get used to the whole not seeing mommy and daddy for the whole day.
I love the time that I get to spend with him and I cherish it even more now that I don't see him every minute of every day.
I so look forward to getting home to see him smile and hear him coo.
